The Antonov An-124 Ruslan was the largest airplane in production until the Antonov An-225 was built. During development it was known as the An-400 and An-40 in the West, and it flew for the first time in 1982. Civil certification was issued by the CIS Interstate Aviation Committee on 30 December 1992. Over forty are currently in service and 20 were in commercial use in 1998.

The Antonov An-26 is a twin-engine light turboprop transport aircraft and is a development of the Antonov An-24, with particular attention to military use. First seen in 1969, it has a modified rear fuselage with a large cargo ramp.

The An-32 is basically a re-engine An-26. The launch customer was the Indian Air Force, which ordered this aircraft partly due to good relations between then USSR leader Leonid Brezhnev and then India leader Indira Gandhi. The An-32 is designed to withstand adverse weather conditions better than the standard An-26. The high placement of the engine nacelles above the wing allowed for larger diameter airscrews, which are driven by 5100 hp rated AI-20 turboprop engines, almost twice the power of the An-26's AI-24 power plants. The An-32 therefore enjoys excellent take-off characteristics under tropical and mountainous (high-altitude) conditions, where hot or thin air hampers the power plants tractive effort.
